And the winner is...
With 38% of the votes, Niamh beat off stiff competition from nine other
finalists from around the country to win her chosen prize of a cool new
eco TV, 50 DVD's and a supply of smoothies in Tetra Pak cartons.
Her father, Trevor Arthur, said "Niamh spotted the competition in our
local paper, and it was her idea to enter. It's a great way to get more
people thinking about recycling, and we are delighted that Niamh's video
won!"
We launched the competition in June, to encourage people to squash their
used cartons before recycling them. Cartons are widely recyclable across
the UK and people are taking to it with gusto! If everyone were to
squash their cartons before recycling, we would fit three times as many
in bins and boxes, which would reduce the number of trucks on the road.
So, Tetra Pak challenged recyclers across the country to film their most
creative carton squash and post the clip on YouTube.
We received some fantastic entries, and it looks like people had a lot
of fun coming up with imaginative new ways to squash their used cartons,
so we hope that everyone will keep up the good work, squashing your
cartons, now that the competition is closed!
If the competition has inspired you and you want to make a video of
yourself squashing a carton, you can send it to us using the carton fun
page and we'll display a selection of them there.
